Please excuse the title of this post. I know. Yesterday we celebrated my sister and her husband as they prepare to bring a new baby boy into the world. Being the fabulous sister I am, I offered to make party favors for the shower guest. Knowing that little boys are, in part, made up of puppy dog tails, it only made sense to create a puppy dog shaped cookie. They turned out so cute!
The baby shower was held in the ballroom of Pine Ridge Country Club, and everyone had a fantastic time! We stayed simple with the shower decor: the country club did their thing with the table setting, brought in blue hydrangeas for each table, and placed a puppy cookie at each seat along with an “advice for the new parents card. We also put some pens and dog bone sugar cookies at the center of the tables.
For the puppy favors, I used the personally tried and true sugar cookie and royal icing recipes from sweetopia.net. These cookies go perfectly with the royal icing, and the dough is a DREAM to work with! Typically I would have dreaded rolling out cookie dough for 60 giant puppy cookies, but this dough is extremely accommodating when you give it a little bit of flour before rolling.
Congratulations Maria and Nick! I can’t wait to meet my sweet little nephew!
